Suçıkan Park

Suçıkan Park is a natural and recreational area located in the Dinar district of Afyonkarahisar Province in Türkiye’s Aegean Region. The site is situated in the center of Dinar town and derives its name from a natural water source that gushes up from underground and sustains the surrounding area. The official address of the park is Suçıkan Mahallesi, 03400 Dinar/Afyonkarahisar.^【1】

The site is recognized as the main source of the Menderes River. ^【2】The local water cycle is formed by excess water accumulating in the Karakuyu Reservoir being discharged underground through a sinkhole near the village of Karakuyu. ^【3】

These discharged waters resurface at the base of the rock formations within Suçıkan Park. Within the park grounds there is the Suçıkan Cave, whose entrance is located at the rear of the Suçıkan Park Hotel. It is believed that the interior of the cave is quite extensive and contains underground pools.^【4】

The Suçıkan Park complex consists of a lake, waterfall and greenery formed by natural spring waters. Within the park, social amenities including a children’s playground, walking paths, shaded rest areas and picnic zones have been established. ^【5】

The site is open to visitors seven days a week from 09:00 to 18:00. Due to the potentially slippery ground surface within the park, visitors are required to follow safety signage, choose appropriate clothing and footwear according to seasonal conditions, and move in groups during organized visits.^【6】
