Shopping
Shopping refers to any activity we undertake to acquire something we need, such as a toy, fresh fruit, or new clothing. The process is completed when a person sells a product and we pay money in return. Shopping is not only about acquiring goods; it is also a bond and form of communication between people.
A Journey Through Time
The word “shopping” is actually very old and was used in Uyghur texts around 1,300 years ago as “alış bėriş.” The ancient Turks also used different terms such as “alı satı” for trade. In the past, markets were typically located around mosques or inside secure large caravanserais.

Shopping Venues
In the past, people visited special places called Han, Arasta, and Bedesten instead of the markets we visit today. For example, Bedestens are enclosed, highly secure marketplaces where very valuable items were sold. Today, we go to modern shopping centers such as the Yunus AVM in Çankırı; there we not only meet our needs but also enjoy leisure time through activities like cinema and games.

The Internet and Our Rights
We can now shop using computers or phones, a practice known as a distance contract. When we buy something online, we select the product without being in the same location as the seller. If we are dissatisfied with or change our mind about a purchased item, we have the right to return it within exactly 14 days without giving any reason. These rules ensure that we can always shop with confidence.
Conscious Consumption
Shopping is not merely about purchasing things; it is about learning to identify our true needs. Choosing what we need, protecting our budget, and knowing our rights make us conscious heroes in the world of shopping.
