Where Does the Name Diyadin Come From?

Although historical records indicate no such prince existed, this beautiful name has endured to the present day. Another ancient name for Diyadin is known as "Daudyana."
A Miracle of Nature: Kudret Köprüsü and Hot Springs
In Diyadin there is a remarkable structure created by nature itself: Kudret Köprüsü. When the Murat River could not pass over the massive rock formation ahead, it carved a tunnel beneath it. This natural bridge, across which people walk, stands 30 meters high and is among the rarest of its kind in the world.
Another famous feature of the district is the hot springs that gush from beneath the earth. The water is so hot that people visit the hot springs here to seek health benefits. The minerals in the water are highly beneficial for the skin and bones.
Ancient Dwellings: Meya Caves
In the village of Günbuldu in Diyadin, steep rock formations resembling fairy chimneys can be found. Thousands of years ago, people carved rooms, windows, balconies and even temples into these rocks.
These caves served as secure fortresses, built to protect inhabitants from enemies. While exploring the interiors, one can see traces of ancient life, symbols carved into the stone, and mysterious tunnels.
How Do People Live in Diyadin?
Winters in Diyadin are snowy and cold, while summers are hot. Most houses in the area are single-story structures built from local stone.
