ASELSAN Konya Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School

ASELSAN Konya Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School is a vocational education institution operating in the Selçuklu district of Konya province, focused on the defense industry. It was established under the status of a “project school” pursuant to a cooperation protocol signed between the Ministry of National Education (MEB) and ASELSAN Konya Weapon Systems Inc. ^【1】 The institution aims to educate students as nationally and internationally competent individuals capable of generating knowledge and to meet the qualified human resource needs of Türkiye’s national defense industry.

The institution officially commenced operations in the 2021–2022 academic year. Its opening process was completed as a result of a joint protocol between the Ministry of National Education and ASELSAN Konya Weapon Systems Inc. Since its establishment, it has adopted a model that integrates technical education with industrial application areas.^【2】

ASELSAN Konya Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School is a public school under the Ministry of National Education but delivers education under a special protocol with ASELSAN Konya Inc. The institution is classified as a “project school” and has the mission of providing education at a level capable of addressing the needs of Türkiye’s national defense industry. Administrative processes and educational standards are shaped in accordance with MEB regulations as well as strategic partnerships.^【3】

The duration of education at the institution is set at five years, including one preparatory year. The curriculum provides specialization in the fields of Electrical-Electronic Technology and Mechanical and Design Technology. The language of instruction is Turkish, while English is offered as the first foreign language. Class hours are scheduled between 08:45 and 16:45.

Student admissions are conducted based on central examination scores (LGS) and defined percentile ranges. The total student capacity of the institution is limited to 48 students. For the Electrical-Electronic Technology field, the minimum percentile score is 1.55% and the maximum is 3.67%; for the Mechanical and Design Technology field, the minimum percentile score is 0.81% and the maximum is 4.67%.^【4】

The school campus is located at Dönerli Street No: 3/2, Sancak Neighborhood, Selçuklu District, Konya Province. Heating needs are met through a central natural gas system, and the digital infrastructure utilizes ADSL connectivity. The institution does not have a boarding facility or staff housing. The school has received the “Our School Is Clean” certificate^【5】, confirming compliance with hygiene standards and infection prevention protocols.

The institution’s hygiene and quality standards are monitored and certified by the MEB Standardization and Quality Services Unit. School management processes are carried out in accordance with the terms of the protocol between MEB and ASELSAN Konya Inc. The “Our School Is Clean” certificate regarding hygiene standards is officially recognized by the Provincial Directorate of National Education.

The institution has a student profile composed of high-achieving academically motivated students aiming for specialization in technical fields. It is planned that 12th-grade students will participate in the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) in 2026. Throughout their education, students are trained to meet international standards in both academic and vocational competencies.^【6】

Within the school, various student clubs such as the Model United Nations (MUN) promote social and cultural development. Official ceremonies and events, including commemorations of the Conquest of Istanbul, are organized to foster national and historical awareness.^【7】

Scientific initiatives include participation in the TÜBİTAK 4006 Science Fairs. The institution has participated in the international UMNA'26 conference, winning awards and implementing eTwinning projects such as “Would You Play With Me!”^【8】 To assess foreign language proficiency, the institution implements the “Language Portfolio Exam,” and supports student participation in international project initiatives.^【9】
