Valley of Paradise and Hell

Cennet Cehennem Vadileri, Hakkâri province’s central district, approximately 45 kilometers away, located at the foot of the Cilo Mountains at an elevation of about 3,500 meters above sea level, is a natural canyon.^【1】

Cennet Cehennem Vadileri is located within the boundaries of Hakkâri province in Eastern Anatolia Region of Türkiye. Its precise address is recorded as 30110 Kırıkdağ/Hakkâri Central. The region’s primary morphological characteristic is the presence of stark physical contrasts.

While certain sections of the valley contain permanent glaciers that do not melt throughout the year, other sections exhibit extensive seasonal vegetation and flowering areas. This structure enables the observation of different climatic conditions within the same area and time frame.^【2】

Evaluated as a nature tourism site, the area is a natural canyon formation due to its environmental and ecological characteristics. The local ecosystem varies according to elevation and climatic diversity. Owing to its natural diversity and unique physical structure, activities such as hiking, mountaineering, rock climbing and various outdoor pursuits are carried out in the region.^【3】

Cennet Cehennem Vadileri is open to visitors seven days a week from 08:00 to 17:00. The site provides barrier-free access but does not offer institutional guided services. Due to geographical and climatic conditions, visitors are required to wear hats for sun protection and to choose sturdy, durable footwear suitable for walking. Visitors must bring their own food and beverages, taking into account the local conditions.^【4】

Official procedures and information flow regarding the area are managed through the Hakkâri Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism. Visual and content data related to the site have been uploaded to the system by the Provincial Directorates of National Education and remain current as of 2026.^【5】
