Zekeriya Zencirli (born 20 March 1992, Kaman, Kırşehir),^【1】 Turkish military. After completing primary, middle and high school, he gained admission to the Non-Commissioned Officer Vocational School but was unable to enroll due to limited financial means. From childhood onward, his life revolved around work.^【2】

Zekeriya Zencirli completed his basic training at the Manisa Kırkağaç Training Battalion and his advanced training at Şereflikoçhisar in Ankara. After fulfilling his national service, he took the non-commissioned officer specialist examination and passed successfully, earning the rank of Specialist Sergeant. Before beginning his professional career, he completed training at the Isparta Eğirdir Mountain Commando School and became a commando. He then began his duty at the 34th Special Operations Battalion in Çukurca, Hakkari. Zekeriya Zencirli served his country for more than two years in Hakkari, where he was martyred on 14 May 2019 during a clash with terrorists attempting to infiltrate the Batıntepe Base Area along the Iraqi border.^【3】

A ceremony was held for Zekeriya Zencirli at the Hakkari Mountain and Commando Battalion Command, after which his body was transported to the district of Alanya in Antalya. The funeral prayer was led by Antalya Mufti Osman Artan, and he was buried at the Alanya Garrison Martyrs’ Cemetery.^【4】

In addition to his close relatives and loved ones, several political figures attended the funeral ceremony. Among them were then Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yavuz Selim Kıran, Acting Governor Hamdi Bolat, Garrison Commander Infantry Lieutenant Colonel Tuncay Polat, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek, Alanya District Mufti İhsan İlhan, and Alanya Municipality Mayor Adem Murat Yücel.^【5】

Zekeriya Zencirli continues to be remembered by those who loved him. The ^【6】 Şehit Zekeriya Zencirli Primary School, located in the Mahmutlar neighborhood of Alanya, Antalya, and the Şehit P. Uzm. Çvş. Zekeriya Zencirli Family Health Center in Alanya, Antalya, are among the institutions named in his honor.^【7】
