Tuşba Chamber of Commerce and Industry Federation Science High School

Tuşba Türkiye Odalar ve Borsalar Birliği Fen Lisesi is an upper-secondary educational institution located within the boundaries of Şemsibey Neighborhood in the Tuşba district of Van, Türkiye. The school, operating under the authority of the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye, implements a curriculum specialized in the natural sciences. The campus is situated at 2911. Sokak No: 61, Şemsibey Neighborhood.^【1】

Enrollment records beginning with the 2016 TEOG (Transition from Basic Education to Secondary Education) data confirm that the school has admitted students under the science high school status since that date. Tuşba TOBB Science High School is administratively affiliated with the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye. Its vision is to cultivate individuals who follow scientific advancements, possess high technological proficiency, and are capable of inquiry and problem-solving. Its mission is structured around the principles of Atatürk, aiming to build a generation grounded in ethical values and proficient in foreign languages and information technologies. The school follows a "Standard" educational model, with classes held between 08:00 and 15:15. The language of instruction is Turkish. Foreign language education includes English as the first foreign language and German as the second. Educational activities are supported by modern technological infrastructure such as the Fatih Project and information technology classrooms.^【4】

Student admissions are conducted annually based on scores from centralized examinations (TEOG and LGS). The annual student quota for 9th grade is 150 students, organized into five separate sections. Based on LGS placement data between 2016 and 2023, minimum scores have ranged from 362.79 to 475.77. As of 2023, the maximum score recorded was 465.7642. The institution’s graduation rate for admission to higher education institutions stands at approximately 90 percent.^【5】

The campus is located 11 kilometers from the center of Van province and district. Physical facilities include 24 classrooms, one physics laboratory, one chemistry laboratory, one biology laboratory, one information technology (IT) classroom, and two workshops. For social and academic needs, the campus provides one sports hall, two libraries with a combined capacity of 2062 books, one cafeteria, and two infirmaries. Heating is provided by a central radiator system, and ADSL internet connectivity is active throughout the campus.^【6】

The teaching staff consists of 41 teachers distributed according to their areas of expertise. Administrative processes and communication are conducted through official telephone lines, document transmission systems, and institutional email channels. The personnel structure complies with the standard cadre norms established by the Ministry of National Education for science high schools.^【7】

A total of 514 students are currently enrolled. The student body consists of individuals with high academic achievement who rank among the top performers in centralized examinations. Within the framework of institutional values, the school aims to develop students into inquisitive, environmentally conscious, and culturally respectful individuals.

Regular activities are organized in chess, football, volleyball, basketball, orienteering, bocha, and table tennis. The school has achieved first-place rankings in chess and orienteering at the provincial level. These activities are designed to support students’ physical and social development.^【8】

Tuşba TOBB Science High School participates in scientific and technological projects under TÜBİTAK and TEKNOFEST initiatives. The school regularly organizes Science Fairs. It actively implements eTwinning projects at the international level and has been awarded the "eSafe School Bronze" label for its adherence to digital security standards. Additionally, the school actively participates in various project competitions at the district, provincial, and national levels.^【9】
