The Lost Colors

How much people have changed now.
They used to be pink; they feared being pollinated.
They were white; they strove not to be dirtied.
They were yellow; they spread joy all around.
And they were red; shame could be read on their faces.

But what has happened to these people now?
They have turned jet black; they have absorbed all their colors.
Now there is no trace left of that red color on their faces.
They do not even clean off the mud that falls on them;
On the contrary, they sink deeper into the mud.

Revenge has taken the place of hope.
Jealousy has replaced happiness.
Shame has been supplanted by everything else.
And lies have made their nest in the place of hearts.
