Tahir Pasha Mansion

Tahir Paşa Konağı is located in the Şükrü Çavuş Neighborhood of the Mudanya district in Bursa Province, Türkiye. The building, consisting of a ground floor and one upper story, reflects the planning and decorative characteristics of 18th-century Ottoman civil architecture. Constructed in 1724, it is notable for its penwork ceiling and wall decorations that embody the aesthetic sensibilities of the Tulip Era. Particularly, the ornamental details in the Baş Oda on the second floor are among the rare examples that document the aesthetic understanding and artistic standards of the period.

The construction of the mansion was completed in 1724. It was nationalized by the Ministry of Culture in 1985, and its restoration was carried out with the support of Agâh Bursalı. For many years, the building served as the district public library, and its ownership was transferred to Mudanya Municipality in 2012. On 5 July 2013, it was reorganized as a house museum and socio-cultural center and opened to the public. The cultural function of the building has been preserved with the support of Tahir Paşa’s grandchildren, Agâh Bursalı and Memduh Gökçen.

The interior arrangement of the mansion is complemented by furnishings and objects reflecting the lifestyle of the period. Among the artifacts are an 18th-century French-made chandelier with duck motifs, a hammered silver-inlaid pocket watch, a handcrafted four-seater sofa, rosewood chairs with floral inlays, Tahir Paşa’s everyday clothing, ceremonial attire and sword, and a Circassian cloak presented by Sheikh Shamil. Additionally, an ud crafted by Russian artisan Monol belonging to the mansion’s later owner Emin Bey, and photographs of Mudanya sourced from the Cüneyt Pekman archive are also on display. The building also includes Crete rooms and a Mudanya Band corner.

Today, Tahir Paşa Konağı operates as a house museum under the patronage of Mudanya Municipality. The building is regarded as a space that presents visitors with both architectural and cultural heritage in a unified setting.
