Sakarya Provincial Forest Nature Park

Sakarya Provincial Forest Nature Park is a nature conservation area located within the boundaries of the Sapanca and Arifiye districts of Sakarya province, offering views of Sapanca Lake. It is situated in the Marmara Region, in the Uzunkum locality within the boundaries of Fatih Neighborhood, Sapanca district. The park is 12 km from the city center of Sakarya, 4 km from the district center of Sapanca, 140 km from Istanbul and 320 km from Ankara. Access to the park is provided via an asphalt road along the Arifiye–Sapanca highway, and the area is accessible and open to visitors throughout all four seasons. The park’s geographical location and climatic conditions support the development of a rich vegetation cover.

Until 2011, the area was used as a Type B Recreation Area. It was officially designated as a Nature Park through registration processes carried out by the Ministry of Forest and Water Affairs (now the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry) in 2011 and 2015.

The park, located within the boundaries of a natural protected area and under official protection, is administratively owned by the state but operated by the private sector. Official sources list the park’s area as ranging between 27.14 hectares and 1,030 decares.

The facility is open to visitors daily from 08:30 to 23:00, and entry is subject to a fee. To meet the basic and recreational needs of visitors, the area includes a café, restaurant, market and bungalow houses offering day-use accommodation. The site provides barrier-free access and guided tour services.

A range of outdoor activities are permitted within the park. These include picnicking and nature walking, wildlife observation, cycling, ATV tours and horseback riding.

In accordance with environmental protection regulations, setting up camping tents and lighting fires that come into direct contact with the ground are prohibited. Fires may only be lit in designated barbecue areas.
