Sabiha Rüştü Bozcalı is a Turkish painter, graphic artist and illustrator. From the early years of the Republic, she produced works documenting the country’s cultural transformation and created numerous illustrations for banks, public institutions and publishing houses. She synthesized contemporary graphic art with her classical art education received in Europe.

Bozcalı began her painting education in Istanbul and later studied at various art academies in Europe. It is known that she spent time in Germany, Italy and France during different periods. Among her instructors were prominent artists of the era including Lovis Corinth, Moritz Heymann and Namık İsmail. This period shaped her technical skills and artistic style.

From the 1930s onward, Bozcalı produced illustrations for various public institutions in Türkiye. Among the institutions she worked for were the General Directorate of Highways, the Ministry of Health, the Turkish Historical Society and municipal administrations. The visuals she created for these entities were used in brochures, maps, textbooks and other promotional materials. Her productions are observed to align with the visual communication strategies of the period and to possess functional qualities.

During the 1950s and 1960s, Bozcalı created illustrations for printed publications. Drawings published in some newspapers were used to visualize news and cultural content. In addition, she produced visual materials for certain encyclopedias and textbooks.
