Oğuzhan Küçük was a Turkish soldier who, prior to his military career, engaged in livestock farming in Karaman. He lost his life on 26 June 2017 during a PKK attack on the Tekeli Base Area in Şemdinli district of Hakkâri and was later honored by having his name given to an educational institution in his hometown.

Oğuzhan Küçük was born on 1 October 1995 in Karaman to the couple Alaaddin and Şerife Küçük.^【1】

Oğuzhan Küçük completed his primary and secondary education in Karaman; during this period he focused more on agricultural and livestock activities than on academic pursuits. In the period before his military service he worked alongside his father in the family business engaged in farming and livestock. Oğuzhan’s other male sibling, Mücahit Hamza Küçük, continues his service as a contract soldier in the Çukurca district of Hakkâri.^【2】

While serving his national duty in Şırnak, Küçük applied for the contract soldier position. After his application was accepted, he completed his military training at a training unit in Amasya and was subsequently assigned to the Şemdinli district of Hakkâri.^【3】

Serving as a Private First Class in the infantry, Küçük participated for approximately two years in border security and counter-terrorism operations in the region. Throughout his service he was actively stationed at strategic locations near the borders with Iraq and Iran, particularly in high-altitude base areas.^【4】

On 26 June 2017, PKK militants originating from northern Iraq launched an attack using heavy machine guns and mortars on the 2867-meter-high Tekeli-Gedik Tepe base area in Şemdinli district of Hakkâri. Küçük lost his life while on duty at his observation post during this attack.^【5】

His body was transported by air from Hakkâri to Konya following an official military ceremony in Hakkâri, and then by road to his hometown of Karaman. On 27 June 2017, after a funeral ceremony attended by civil and military officials and approximately ten thousand citizens at the 15 July Ak Tekke Democracy Square in Karaman, he was laid to rest in the military section of the Karaman City Cemetery.^【6】

Following his death, a middle school in Karaman was named the "Martyr Oğuzhan Küçük Imam Hatip Middle School".^【7】
