Mustafa Gürbüz Necat Bayel Anadolu Lisesi is a secondary education institution located in the Şahinbey district of Gaziantep, operating under the authority of the Ministry of National Education of Türkiye.

The institution was constructed by the philanthropist businessman Mustafa Gürbüz Bayel and transferred to the Ministry of National Education. It has adopted a full-day education model that aims not only at academic excellence but also at the social, cultural and athletic development of its students.^【1】

The establishment process of the institution began with the approval of the General Directorate of Secondary Education on 09.05.2005, under decision number 5348. Established in accordance with the Regulation on Opening, Closing and Naming Institutions Under the Ministry of National Education, the school commenced its educational activities in the 2005-2006 academic year with six classes following approval by the Gaziantep Governorate on 20.05.2005.

The official opening ceremony of the school building was conducted in 2008 by Köksal Toptan, then Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye. The institution graduated its first cohort at the end of the 2008-2009 academic year.^【2】

Mustafa Gürbüz Necat Bayel Anadolu Lisesi is administratively subordinate to the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye and the Şahinbey District National Education Directorate. Institutional governance processes are carried out in accordance with five-year strategic plans prepared under Law No. 5018 on Public Financial Management and Control.

The school’s institutional identity is grounded in its vision of “A Brand City, A Brand School; A Brand School, A Brand Education” and its mission to cultivate individuals equipped with 21st-century skills and committed to ethical values.^【3】

The institution implements a four-year Anatolian High School curriculum, with instruction conducted on a full-day basis (08:00–15:10). The language of instruction is Turkish; English is taught as the first foreign language and German as the second foreign language.

The school’s technological infrastructure is supported by fiber-optic internet connections and interactive whiteboards under the FATİH Project. The EBA portal and materials provided by the General Directorate of Secondary Education are actively utilized to enhance educational quality, and students are provided with practice exams and support and enrichment courses in preparation for university entrance examinations.^【4】

Student admissions are conducted through the centralized placement system of the Ministry of National Education based on examination scores. Orientation programs are organized by the guidance service at the beginning of each academic year to assist newly enrolled students in adapting to the school and its environment. Student attendance and continuity are closely monitored, and instances of absenteeism are regularly reported to parents.^【5】

The school campus is located on street number 85119 in the Yeditepe neighborhood of Şahinbey district. The physical structure consists of three floors built above ground level and includes 22 classrooms. The campus also houses a library, science laboratories, a multipurpose hall, a bust of Atatürk, and administrative offices.

Outdoor areas include volleyball, basketball and bocce courts. Elevators and ramp systems have been installed to ensure accessibility for persons with disabilities, and heating needs are met through a natural gas system.^【6】

The administrative leadership of the institution consists of a principal, one deputy principal and two assistant principals. Ekrem Kırık served as the founding principal from 2005 to 2010; Abdullah Yalçın (2010–2014) and Hanifi Güz (2014–2017) succeeded him, and Mehmet Kara has held the position since 2017.

The staff comprises approximately 38 teachers, one guidance counselor, one administrative officer and four support personnel. The average tenure of teachers at the institution is 10 years, and graduate and doctoral education for academic staff is actively encouraged.^【7】

The school currently enrolls a total of 602 students, of whom 354 are female and 248 are male. The average number of students per classroom and class is 27.5. According to the institution’s academic performance statistics, the rate of students admitted to higher education programs in 2018 was 63%. The majority of students gained admission through the centralized examination system and exhibit a profile characterized by high academic achievement and active participation in social activities.^【8】

A wide range of activities are organized to support the physical and social development of students. In the field of sports, the school conducts programs in orienteering, archery, athletics, darts, futsal, tennis, table tennis, basketball, volleyball and football, and organizes internal tournaments.

In the cultural and artistic domain, appropriate facilities are provided for painting, music and theater activities, and social responsibility initiatives are implemented to generate positive impacts on the local community.^【9】

The institution participates in various scientific and educational projects at national and international levels. Nationally, it organizes TÜBİTAK 4006 Science Fairs and participates in TEKNOFEST project competitions; in fact, in TEKNOFEST 2022, a project in the field of environmental technologies was selected as a finalist. Internationally, the school implemented the “Reach The Sky” project under the European Union’s Erasmus+ program and actively engages in projects on the eTwinning platform.^【10】
