Konya Girls' Rock

Kızlar Kayası is a natural formation shaped by the natural effects of water and wind erosion, located in the Dere Neighborhood and also known as “The Fairy Chimneys of Konya.” It has been opened for tourism and cultural visits following environmental improvements.

Located 7 kilometers from the city center and covering an area of 24,000 square meters, 10,000 square meters of Kızlar Kayası have been developed to enhance the city’s tourism and social life. The rocks, shaped over time by water and wind erosion, are often likened by visitors to human silhouettes and also compared structurally to the Fairy Chimneys in Nevşehir. Although sufficient historical information is not available, various legends have been passed down orally through generations.

Lighting installations have made it accessible for visits after sunset. Staircases and viewing terraces built between the geological formations allow for closer examination of the rocks.

The interventions were not only intended to enhance its aesthetic appeal but also to ensure its preservation. Various forms of damage on the rocks have been removed, aiming to protect them from human interference for many years to come.

Kızlar Kayası has become part of a 1.5-kilometer-long historical, tourism and cultural route extending from Meram Bağı to Meram Millet Bahçesi. It is now included in a tour itinerary that also features Meram Bağı, Lavanta Bahçesi, Meram Köprüsü, Tavusbaba, Aydın Çavuş, 80 Binde Devri Alem Parkı and Meram Millet Bahçesi.
