Kocasinan Furkan Doğan Anatolian Imam Hatip High School

Kocasinan Furkan Doğan Anadolu İmam Hatip Lisesi is a state educational institution operating under the authority of the Ministry of National Education of Türkiye, located in the Kayseri province within the Kocasinan district. Situated in the Zümrüt Neighborhood, the school provides secondary education based on a curriculum centered on religious instruction.^【1】

The institution was established in the 2011–2012 academic year under the name "Kocasinan İMKB Anadolu İmam Hatip Lisesi." Due to incomplete construction of its building, educational activities initially began in the annex building of Kocasinan Sadiye Nuhoğlu Primary School; during the second term of the same year, the school moved into its newly completed building.

In the 2013–2014 academic year, middle school and open high school divisions were also launched within the institution. At the end of the 2014–2015 academic year, the middle school unit was separated and relocated to a different building under the name "Kocasinan Nurettin Öztürk Anadolu İmam Hatip Middle School." The school’s name was officially updated to "Kocasinan Furkan Doğan Anadolu İmam Hatip Lisesi" in accordance with a formal directive issued by the General Directorate of Religious Education of the Ministry of National Education on 23 June 2015.^【2】

The school is structured as an institution under the Ministry of National Education of Türkiye, subordinate to the General Directorate of Religious Education. Its institutional mission is to cultivate individuals with professional competence to meet societal needs in religious services, who are open to scientific developments and committed to national values.

Its vision aims to produce graduates capable of evaluating cultural heritage and developing solutions to societal problems. The institution’s operations and nomenclature are conducted in accordance with directives and service standards issued by the Ministry.^【3】

The institution follows the "Normal Education" system, with class hours scheduled from 08:20 to 12:20 and 13:10 to 15:30. English is offered as the foreign language instruction. The Fatih Project fiber internet infrastructure is utilized for educational technology purposes. In addition to formal education, the institution also continues educational activities through its "Open High School" division.^【4】

Since the 2018–2019 academic year, the school’s student admission method has transitioned from a centralized examination system to the "Address-Based Student Registration" system. Prior to this date, admissions were based on centralized exam scores; for example, in the 2017–2018 academic year, the minimum score was 311 and the maximum score was 446. The school’s annual student quotas vary by academic period; for the 2024–2025 period, the quota is set at 272, and for the 2025–2026 period, it is set at 340.^【5】

The campus, located four kilometers from the center of Kayseri in the Zümrüt Neighborhood of Kocasinan district, consists of 24 classrooms, 4 administrative offices, 1 teachers’ room, 1 clerk’s office, and 1 archive room. For scientific activities, there is one science laboratory (for physics, chemistry, and biology). For social activities, the campus includes one conference hall, two multipurpose halls, one sports room, and one library with a capacity of 4,491 books.

The campus heating requirement is met by a natural gas-fired radiator system. Transportation is provided through three different public transit routes operated by the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality.^【6】

The school’s administrative staff consists of one principal and three vice principals. According to 2019–2020 academic year data, the institution employed 46 teachers and one clerk; however, current personnel records list 39 teachers. During the early years of the institution, when the middle school and high school divisions operated together, the total staff reached up to 70.^【7】

According to 2019–2020 data, a total of 566 students were enrolled, of whom 261 were female and 305 were male. The current student population is 397. Graduates enroll in various higher education programs, including Law Faculties, Engineering departments, Theology Faculties, Health Sciences, and Teacher Training programs. The institution’s rate of placement into higher education institutions was 59% in 2014–2015 but decreased to 16% in 2023–2024 according to official statistics.^【8】

The institution regularly organizes competitions in Qur’an recitation, Qur’an elocution, and sermon delivery, as coordinated by the General Directorate of Religious Education. In sports, activities are conducted in boxing, kickboxing, cross-country running, weightlifting, karate, darts, bocce, and archery.

The school has achieved various first-place finishes and rankings within the province in these disciplines; for example, it won provincial championships in kickboxing during the 2019–2020 and 2021–2022 academic years. Additionally, team sports such as football, volleyball, and table tennis are also practiced.^【9】

Within the institution, local and national projects such as Anadolu Schools Author Reading, Read-Interpret, A Wise Generation with a Knowledgeable Person, The Seven Readers, ÇEDES, and ER-VA are implemented. On the international level, participation in the PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) studies was achieved in 2022.

During the 2023–2024 academic year, national-scale projects were carried out under the SADA Project. University preparation initiatives, including the "Target YKS" projects (2022, 2023, 2024), are actively pursued.^【10】
