Hacettepe University

Hacettepe University was established in 1954 in Ankara by Professor Dr. İhsan Doğramacı as the Children's Health Chair under the Faculty of Medicine of Ankara University. In 1967, the institution began its academic life as Hacettepe University. That same year, under the rectorship of Professor Dr. İhsan Doğramacı, Hacettepe University now comprises 16 faculties, 4 vocational schools, 15 institutes, 98 Research and Application Centers, one technology park, and one conservatory. Additionally, its Beytepe campus features a lake and forest named Yeşil Vadi.

According to the most recent URAP (University Ranking by Academic Performance) list, covering the years 2023–2024 and ranking universities based on academic performance, Hacettepe University is ranked first in Turkey and 554th in the world ranking.

Hacettepe University has two main campuses. The larger one is located in the Beytepe region of Çankaya district in Ankara, the capital of Türkiye. It is one of the largest university campuses in the country and boasts the most green space. The area where the campus is situated is called Üniversiteler Mahallesi, named so because it also hosts the campuses of other major universities in Ankara.

The Sıhhiye campus in Ankara is centrally located and highly accessible. This campus houses the Faculty of Medicine of Hacettepe University, which functions both as an educational institution and as a state hospital. Unlike the Beytepe campus, the area where the Sıhhiye campus is located is known as Üniversiteler Bölgesi.
