Bayram Eren ArslanArslan (2002–2025) was a Turkish industrial engineer and search and rescue volunteer. A graduate of the Department of Industrial Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of Kırıkkale University, Arslan^【1】 served as a volunteer for fifteen years within the Search and Rescue Association (AKUT)^【2】, actively participating in disaster management, humanitarian aid, and natural disaster response operations. He lost his life in July 2025 while engaged in firefighting efforts during a forest fire in Eskişehir.

Bayram Eren Arslan was born in 2002 and spent his life in the Mamak district of Ankara.^【3】 He completed his higher education in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences of Kırıkkale University.^【4】

He participated in volunteer activities under the Turkish Aeronautical Association (THK), received glider training, and provided model aircraft education to children in schools.^【5】

Arslan began his volunteer work at an early age and joined AKUT before turning eighteen.^【6】 Over his fifteen years of service, he undertook technical roles within the association, including unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV/drone) operation and field rescue. Following the 2023 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, he participated in search and rescue operations in the Adıyaman region, serving on-site for one and a half months.^【7】

In July 2025, Arslan was deployed from Ankara to the affected area to assist in combating a forest fire that began in the Seyitgazi district of Eskişehir and spread toward the borders of Afyonkarahisar.^【8】 On 23 July 2025, while working with a response team of nineteen forestry workers and five AKUT volunteers, he became trapped by flames after a sudden change in wind direction.^【9】 At the scene, Arslan and nine others died due to smoke inhalation and burns.^【10】

Arslan’s body was transferred to the Ankara Forensic Medicine Group Directorate for identification and autopsy procedures.^【11】

The funeral ceremony was held at the Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque in Ankara’s Çankaya district, attended by state officials and representatives of civil society organizations. After the funeral prayer, which followed the afternoon prayer, Arslan’s body was laid to rest at the Ortaköy Cemetery in Ankara.^【12】

Following his death, various projects bearing Arslan’s name were initiated by public institutions and civil society organizations. Some of these include:

In the Yukarı İmrahor neighborhood of Ankara’s Mamak district^【13】 and in the Sorgun district of Yozgat, reforestation areas named the “Bayram Eren Arslan Memorial Forest”^【14】 were established. A lecture hall at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences of Kırıkkale University was named after him, and saplings were planted in his honor on the university campus.^【15】 The Ankara Mamak Municipality named a park in the Durali Alıç neighborhood after Arslan.^【16】
