Baykar Science High School

Baykar Fen Lisesi is a specialized science high school located in the Başakşehir district of Istanbul. It operates through a collaboration between the Ministry of National Education, Baykar Technology, and the Türkiye Technology Team Foundation (T3 Vakfı). The school implements a four-year secondary education program preceded by a one-year English preparatory class. Its curriculum includes thematic courses focused on information and software technologies as well as aerospace and space technologies. The institution’s institutional history traces back to an educational partnership initiated in 2023 under the name Baykar National Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. The establishment process of Baykar Fen Lisesi began with the Protocol on Vocational Education Cooperation signed on 31 May 2023 between the Ministry of National Education and Baykar. Under this protocol, a secondary education institution focused on defense, aviation, space, and advanced technologies was established in Istanbul. Initially, the school commenced operations under the name Baykar National Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. During the 2023–2024 academic year, it temporarily began instruction within the facilities of Hacı Şöhret Demiröz Fen Lisesi in Başakşehir. Following the completion of campus construction and technical infrastructure work, the school relocated to its own campus after a provisional opening ceremony on 27 August 2024.

The Baykar Fen Lisesi campus consists of the main building, workshop building, and dormitory building. The main building houses classrooms, laboratories, a library, and project areas. The workshop building contains application spaces designed for the thematic education programs. The dormitory building is arranged to accommodate students coming from different cities. In the 2025–2026 academic year, the institution was officially recognized as Baykar Fen Lisesi among specialized program science high schools. During the same academic year, preparatory, 9th grade, and 10th grade levels began implementing specialized program science high school curricula.

Baykar Fen Lisesi is a public secondary education institution under the authority of the Ministry of National Education. Its stakeholders are the Ministry of National Education, Baykar Machinery Industry and Trade Inc., and the Türkiye Technology Team Foundation. The campus is located at Bahçeşehir 2. Kısım Mahallesi Prof. Dr. Murat Dilmener Caddesi No: 4 in Istanbul’s Başakşehir district. The campus includes classrooms, laboratories, application workshops, project areas, sports facilities, and a student dormitory. As of 7 July 2026, the school’s official website lists 21 classrooms, 14 teachers, and 226 students.

Education at Baykar Fen Lisesi follows a five-year model beginning with a one-year English preparatory class, followed by a four-year secondary education program. The school offers two thematic programs: Information and Software Technologies, and Aerospace and Space Technologies. Students select one of these programs during the application and placement process.

The Information and Software Technologies program includes courses and activities in algorithms, software development, computer science, data processing, digital systems, and technology-based project work. The program emphasizes coding, system design, and digital product development.

The Aerospace and Space Technologies program includes courses and practical work on aviation systems, space technologies, flight principles, engineering design, modeling, basic electronics, and technology applications. Within this program, students participate in project-based activities. Educational activities are conducted through classes, laboratory work, workshop applications, project development, and team-based collaboration.

Admission to Baykar Fen Lisesi is based on a combined evaluation of the centralized exam score and the centralized aptitude test score. For the 2025–2026 academic year, applicants were required to rank within the top 1 percent of all candidates based on their centralized exam results.

Applicants may select only one of the two programs: Information and Software Technologies or Aerospace and Space Technologies.

The centralized aptitude test was administered in a single session lasting 75 minutes and consisted of 30 multiple-choice questions. Questions were drawn from mathematics, natural sciences, computer science, and aviation. Ten questions each were allocated to mathematics and natural sciences, and five each to computer science and aviation. The placement score was calculated as 70 percent of the centralized exam score and 30 percent of the aptitude test score. For the 2025–2026 academic year, the admission quota was set at 24 students for the Information and Software Technologies program and 48 students for the Aerospace and Space Technologies program, totaling 72 students.

The main building of Baykar Fen Lisesi contains classrooms, a library, a physics laboratory, a chemistry laboratory, a biology laboratory, two computer laboratories, and a project laboratory. The main building has 20 classrooms. The workshop building houses thematic workshop areas, a Deneyap workshop, and an indoor sports hall. The workshops are used for activities related to information technology, software development, aviation, space, design, manufacturing, electronic systems, and engineering applications. The dormitory building is divided into separate sections for male and female students, with a total capacity of 234 students.

Students at Baykar Fen Lisesi receive monthly scholarships provided by Baykar and the T3 Vakfı.

Educational activities at the school involve engineers with industry experience and include career planning, project mentoring, competition preparation, and scientific-technological events. Students participate in events and competitions in the fields of technology, science, engineering, software, robotics, aviation, and space. Student activities include competitions under TEKNOFEST, project development, technical training, workshops, and technology-based applications.

^{BFL Fest 2026 - Day 2 (}BFL⁾

BFL Fest is a school-to-school science, technology, and project competition organized by Baykar Fen Lisesi. The event brings together students from different schools to showcase technology projects, robotics applications, software developments, and student presentations. BFL FEST26 was held on 13–14 May 2026 and featured programs including KÜRETHON, hackathons, robotics competitions, workshops, panels, project finals, and award ceremonies. The festival is an event where students present their scientific and technological work, school teams compete in contests, and knowledge exchange occurs between schools. It is planned to be held annually.
