What Ships I Burned (Series)

Ne Gemiler Yaktım is a Turkish television series produced by Ay Yapım, directed by Altan Dönmez, and written by Banu Kiremitçi Bozkurt, with its first episode released on December 4, 2023. The series centers on the intersection of two women who have no common ground except motherhood, and their joint struggle for survival.

Yasemin (Deniz Baysal) and Fidan (Devrim Özkan) are two women with nothing in common except motherhood. Their paths cross unexpectedly. While Fidan tries to escape her dangerous husband Rutkay (Berk Hakman), who has a dark past, Yasemin fights to keep her own life afloat. Their encounter becomes a turning point for both of them and for those around them. As Fidan’s past with Rutkay’s criminal connections comes to light through the investigation led by Chief Inspector Toprak (Erkan Kolçak Köstendil), Yasemin and Fidan find themselves at the center of deep and dangerous events.

The series is shaped around themes of female solidarity, the struggle for survival among women subjected to violence, motherhood, liberation, and justice. It also addresses social issues such as domestic violence, illegal relationships, trust, and friendship.

• Yasemin Durulmaz (Deniz Baysal): A smart and pragmatic woman fighting to survive. She is a single mother who prioritizes her daughter above all else.
• Fidan Hersekli (Devrim Özkan): A hardened character who finds it difficult to trust others and rarely opens up. She deeply loves her daughter and motherhood.
• Rutkay Sezai Hersekli (Berk Hakman): A man described by psychiatrists as narcissistic, with underdeveloped empathy.
• Chief Inspector Toprak (Erkan Kolçak Köstendil): A sharp, observant, and talkative inspector.
• Neriman Hersekli (Çiğdem Selışık Onat): A ruthless woman who takes what she wants and refuses to share her son with anyone.
• Tevfik (Macit Koper): Yasemin’s father and Rengin’s grandfather. He owns a small local eatery directly beneath his home.
