What Is Happening Here? (Book)

What’s Going On Here? is a study that examines continuities in everyday life in Türkiye and analyzes the social dynamics within everyday relationships. The book was written by Levent Ünsaldı and features a cover design by Ali İmren. The text treats the ways individuals evaluate one another through concepts such as “fakeness,” “hypocrisy,” “insincerity,” “not being genuine,” and “putting on an act” as integral parts of everyday life.

Rather than taking a stance between moral judgments or theoretical frameworks, the work offers an analysis aimed at understanding how everyday phenomena operate. The book does not seek to uncover a hidden reality or debate the nature of reality through linguistic play. Instead, it explores the order and structural characteristics of everyday life through the encounters and interactions of ordinary people.

At the center of the work is the question: “What is going on?” in everyday encounters. The study examines the patterns of interaction in everyday life and the functioning of social activities. In this context, the book reveals the various dimensions of seemingly ordinary situations when viewed from a particular perspective.
