TEKNOFEST HackMasters Competition

HackMasters is an international cybersecurity competition held within the framework of TEKNOFEST, Türkiye's largest technology festival, designed to assess participants’ theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of cybersecurity. The competition supports the development of individuals capable of creating innovative and effective solutions against contemporary digital threats.

HackMasters is designed to enhance the defensive capabilities of individuals and institutions against cyber threats and digital security needs. The competition is not merely a technical competition platform; it also serves as an educational and developmental environment aimed at fostering ethical cybersecurity awareness and a sense of social responsibility.

The competition is structured to evaluate participants’ knowledge and skills in the following cybersecurity domains: Cryptography, Reverse Engineering, Malware Analysis, Web Application Security, Digital Forensics, Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), Mobile Security, IoT (Internet of Things) Security, and Artificial Intelligence Security. These areas represent the most in-demand specializations in today’s cybersecurity landscape, and HackMasters aims to provide participants with in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in these fields.

HackMasters targets a broad range of participants: high school, university students, and graduates from Türkiye and abroad may apply. Individuals who have graduated may participate as team members representing a company or startup. Each team must consist of at least two and no more than four members.

The semi-final stage is conducted online via a cloud-based platform. The competition follows a Jeopardy CTF (Capture The Flag) format. Challenges can be solved individually or as a team, but answers must be submitted exclusively by the team captain. Participants are tested on their multidimensional thinking and technical analysis abilities through tasks of varying difficulty levels.

In the final stage, participants conduct analysis and problem-solving based on realistic, real-world original cybersecurity incidents. These scenarios are designed across various topics and difficulty levels to provide participants with an experience closely mirroring actual cyber attacks and defense processes.

Evaluation is carried out by the competition’s technical committee. The top three teams, determined by the fastest progress and most successful analyses, earn rankings and prizes.

All stages of the competition are conducted in Turkish. However, some technical resources and documents may be available in foreign languages. All announcements and notifications regarding the competition are issued through the official HackMasters website and the email addresses provided by participants during registration.

HackMasters aims not only to advance technical skills but also to cultivate ethical hacking awareness, teamwork, problem solving, and technological literacy among other contemporary competencies. The competition contributes to Türkiye’s mission of increasing its qualified human resources in cybersecurity in alignment with the National Technology Initiative vision.
