TEKNOFEST Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Competition

TEKNOFEST Health Artificial Intelligence Competition is one of the thematic competitions organized within TEKNOFEST, one of Türkiye’s initiatives in the field of technology and innovation. The primary objective of the competition is to encourage the application of artificial intelligence technologies in healthcare and to support the development of solutions aimed at enhancing the quality, efficiency, and accessibility of health services. It also aims to contribute to the advancement of domestic and national technologies in this domain.

The fundamental goal of the competition is to increase efficiency in healthcare systems through AI-supported solutions, improve early diagnosis and intervention processes, enable the strategic use of advanced technologies in health data analysis, and contribute to Türkiye’s process of digital transformation in healthcare. Additionally, the competition seeks to guide young researchers and entrepreneurs toward this field, promote interdisciplinary collaborations, and foster the development of innovative products in health technology. The competition aims to highlight projects with transformative potential in healthcare systems, support groundbreaking ideas, and develop sustainable healthcare solutions in Türkiye through artificial intelligence technologies.

The TEKNOFEST Health Artificial Intelligence Competition encompasses artificial intelligence solutions developed for the healthcare sector. Projects are encouraged in the following areas:

• Medical image analysis (MRI, X-ray, CT scans, etc.)
• Early diagnosis and decision support systems
• Disease classification and risk analysis
• Personalized treatment systems
• Patient monitoring and data analysis systems
• Accessibility and solutions tailored for people with disabilities
• Artificial intelligence solutions for exceptional situations such as pandemics

Students at the high school, associate, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels, as well as graduates of these programs, from Türkiye and abroad, are eligible to participate. Participants may apply individually or as teams of two to five members. In line with the promotion of interdisciplinary team work, collaboration among participants from diverse fields such as medicine, engineering, information technology, and health sciences is encouraged.

The competition is conducted through a multi-stage evaluation process:

1. Project Application and Preliminary Evaluation: Teams begin the process by completing preliminary application forms that clearly outline their project ideas.

2. Detailed Project Report: Teams that pass the preliminary screening submit a comprehensive report containing detailed technical and methodological information.

3. Presentation and Final Stage: Projects selected for the final round are presented to the jury, with demonstrations or prototypes exhibited.

4. Evaluation Criteria: Criteria include innovation, feasibility, potential impact, technical proficiency, ethical compliance, and team collaboration.

The Health Artificial Intelligence Competition aligns with Türkiye’s National Technology Initiative vision by aiming to reduce dependency on foreign technologies in strategically important fields and promote the development of domestic solutions. The competition supports the strengthening of Türkiye’s digital health ecosystem by advancing AI-based technologies in healthcare.
