Siirt DENEYAP Technology Workshop

Siirt DENEYAP Technology Workshop, established in 2022 under the coordination of the Turkey Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation), in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Industry and Technology, and TÜBİTAK, was opened within the Siirt Youth Center as part of the nationwide “100 DENEYAP Technology Workshops in 81 Provinces” project. Its purpose is to provide free technology-focused education to middle and high school students, cultivating qualified human resources to support Türkiye’s national and indigenous technology initiative.

The opening of the Siirt DENEYAP Technology Workshop took place on 4 September 2022, simultaneously in 27 provinces as part of the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s participation in the Teknofest Black Sea 2022 program. The opening ceremony in Siirt was attended by Siirt Acting Governor Fatih Kurt, Director of Youth and Sports for Siirt Province Hayati Kısacık and various local officials. With the opening, the physical infrastructure and human resource structure of the workshop were completed and educational activities commenced.

The education program conducted at DENEYAP Workshops lasts a total of 36 months and is divided into three stages: an e-exam, an application exam, and in-person training. After submitting their applications online, students participate in the e-exam covering Mathematics, Science, Algorithms, and General Knowledge. Those who successfully complete this stage are admitted to the 36-month technology-based training. In the first application cycle in Siirt, 420 out of 1,638 applicants qualified for the application exam, and based on the results, 100 middle school and 60 high school students were accepted into the workshop.

The education provided at the Siirt DENEYAP Technology Workshop is project-based and application-oriented. In the first two years, courses include Robotics and Coding, Aviation and Space Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Electronic Programming, Internet of Things, Cybersecurity, Nanotechnology, and Materials Science. In the third year, students form teams according to their interests and develop projects for national and international technology competitions.

Courses are delivered by instructors who are either graduates or current students of relevant university departments. Each class is supported by one engineer and one teacher. Additionally, psychology interns conduct weekly observations. Classes are held in two groups on Saturdays and Sundays from 09:00 to 13:00 and 13:30 to 17:30.

The Siirt DENEYAP Technology Workshop operates within the Siirt Youth Center, located at Bahçelievler Mahallesi 1426. Sokak No:9. The workshop has a total capacity of 160 students and includes two classrooms. The learning environment is equipped with technology-appropriate infrastructure and supported by up-to-date software, hardware, and prototyping tools.

The Siirt DENEYAP Technology Workshop aims to cultivate individuals with the capability to produce technology within the framework of Türkiye’s National Technology Initiative. It plays a strategic role in exposing young people to technology at an early age, fostering an entrepreneurial culture in this field, and supporting domestic production. It also provides an optimal educational environment for developing both individual and team collaboration skills among youth.
