The film’s plot centers on the strange and inexplicable behavior exhibited by Regan, the daughter of famous actress Chris MacNeil. What begins with minor signs such as her bed shaking quickly escalates into a horrifying dimension that threatens Regan’s physical and psychological integrity. Although doctors conduct a series of medical tests, suspecting possible brain damage, they find no physical cause for her condition. Faced with the inability of modern medicine and psychiatry to explain her symptoms, Chris begins to believe that a demonic entity has possessed her daughter and turns to religious intervention as her only hope.^【2】
