Samsun İlkadım Atatürk Anatolian High School

Atatürk Anadolu Lisesi, is a public educational institution affiliated with the Ministry of National Education of Türkiye, located at 97. Sokak No: 12, Kıran Mahallesi, İlkadım District, Samsun. The school’s logo indicates its founding year as 1998.

The founding year of the institution is stated as 1998 in its emblem and official documents. Since its opening, the school has admitted students through central examination systems and has achieved academic success in the LYS and YKS processes since 2010. In 2013, it secured first place in the İlkadım district for YGS1, YGS2, YGS5 and YGS6 score types, and achieved 296th place nationally in the YGS2 score type.^【2】

Atatürk Anadolu Lisesi operates under the authority of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of National Education and the İlkadım District Governorship. The school’s operations are conducted in accordance with the provisions of the "Internal Regulation" prepared for the 2022–2023 academic year and the Regulation on Secondary Education Institutions.

The school administration has the authority to make amendments to the internal regulation when necessary. Institutional communication and announcements are carried out through the official website, the e-school parent information system, SMS, and email channels.^【3】

The school implements single-shift instruction, with class hours running from 08:20 to 15:40. English is taught as the first foreign language in the weekly schedule. Student promotion is based on achieving a minimum arithmetic average of 50 across term grades, or a minimum of 70 in the second term grade.

Students with a final success score of 50 or higher may advance to the next grade even if they have failed courses, except for those that cannot be passed by average. Examinations are conducted using a seating arrangement known as the "butterfly system," and students receive two or three performance grades per subject per term.^【4】

According to institutional capacity data, the total number of students is set at 638. Student admissions and transfers are carried out in accordance with the central placement and transfer criteria outlined in the Ministry of National Education’s Regulation on Secondary Education Institutions.

Student attendance is mandatory; students who are absent without excuse for 10 days in a term or 30 days in total are deemed unsuccessful regardless of their academic performance, as stipulated in the regulation.^【5】

The school campus is located five kilometers from the center of Samsun. Physical facilities include 22 classrooms, one science laboratory, one information technology classroom, one art classroom, one conference hall, and a library with a capacity of 3,896 books.

Heating is provided by a natural gas system. Transportation is facilitated through various public transit routes (22, 23, 24B, T1, E5, etc.) and private shuttle services.^【6】

The teaching staff consists of 51 educators. The administrative structure comprises the school principal and deputy principals. Staff are responsible for the general order and cleanliness of the school, and students and class monitors are also assigned responsibilities regarding the maintenance of shared areas and classroom ventilation. Eleventh-grade students are assigned to assist the school administration under the class monitor program.^【7】

Students at Atatürk Anadolu Lisesi are required to wear the official school uniform, which consists of burgundy, black or gray t-shirts; burgundy hooded sweatshirts; and black canvas or linen trousers.

Student academic achievements are recognized with Certificates of Appreciation, Honor, and Outstanding Achievement. In accordance with institutional rules, the non-academic use of information technology tools and unauthorized use of technological devices are restricted; mobile phones must be stored in designated containers, turned off, during class hours.^【8】

The school implements various social responsibility and cultural projects, including "One Book One City," "Reading Together," "I Am With My Values," "Our Borrowed World," "Colors in Our Palette," and "One Step to Art, A Thousand Steps to Life."

In sports, the school’s boys’ basketball team achieved third place in the district during the 2012–2013 academic year. The institution regularly organizes knowledge competitions and won first place in the district-level high school knowledge competition in 2013.^【9】

The institution participates in European Union projects in line with international educational standards. Between 2012 and 2014, the Comenius (LAPLA) project was implemented. Under the Erasmus+ program, various mobility projects and activity booklets have been developed to provide students with international experience. Additionally, digital and historical awareness initiatives such as "A Digital Journey Through Our History" and "Writing Notes to Time" are also carried out.^【10】
