Orhan Kemal Museum

Orhan Kemal Museum, Türk literature's important figure Orhan Kemal was established in 2000 in the Cihangir neighborhood of Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district to preserve his memory.

Orhan Kemal Museum houses numerous personal belongings of the writer, various published works and news articles about him, letters written by his admirers and friends, and many other artifacts.

The museum displays 70 photographs of the writer’s private life, mostly taken by Ara Güler, along with family photographs, original first editions of his books, personal letters, newspaper clippings, articles, and doctoral theses about him. Also exhibited are his study room, the typewriter he used, two mannequins dressed in his clothing, his bed, toothbrush, and other personal items. A facial cast taken from his face after his death lies on the bed, along with his trousseau chest, an old radio, a record player, a writing desk, a broom, a wall-mounted oil lamp, and a library filled with books. Photographs taken during his imprisonment in Bursa Prison are also on display. In a glass case are his shaving kit, iron, tea set, semaver, fountain pen, cologne bottle, tie, and nail clippers. Additionally, there is a caricature by Turhan Selçuk bearing the inscription “Where Have You Been All This Time, My Friends?!...”^【1】 

The museum is located at Kılıç Ali Paşa Mahallesi, Akarsu Yokuşu Sokak No: 30, 34433 Beyoğlu/İstanbul, in the Cihangir neighborhood of Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district.
