Nizip Science High School

Nizip Fen Lisesii, located in the Nizip district of Gaziantep province, is a public science high school affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. The institution’s primary objective is to cultivate qualified human resources needed in the fields of science and technology and to prepare students for higher education programs according to their interests and abilities.^【1】

The institution began its educational activities in 2011 on the third floor of the Nizip Anatolian Teacher High School building, with 52 students enrolled in the ninth grade.

In 2017, the school relocated to a building owned by the institution, which is currently used as Nizip Sports High School. Since 2019, it has continued its operations at its current campus in Akçakent Neighborhood.^【2】

Nizip Fen Lisesi is administratively subordinate to the General Directorate of Secondary Education under the Ministry of National Education. All school activities are conducted in accordance with the relevant articles of the Constitution of the Republic of Türkiye (Articles 10, 24, 42, 62) and the Fundamental Law of National Education No. 1739. The institutional governance structure comprises the school principal, deputy principal, assistant principals, the teaching staff council, the school-family union, and various committees.^【3】

The school operates on a full-day schedule, with classes held between 08:00 and 15:30. Academic progress is monitored through classical examinations as well as regularly administered diagnostic assessments and topic review tests. English is taught as the first foreign language and German as the second foreign language.^【4】

Student admissions are conducted annually based on the results of the centralized secondary education transition examinations (such as LGS). The school has five sections per grade level, with a total capacity of 600 students, allowing 30 students per section.^【5】

The campus includes teacher workrooms, equipment rooms, a library, two guidance service rooms, a music room, and a multi-purpose hall. The school operates a student dormitory with a total capacity of 184 beds, accommodating 92 male and 92 female students. The campus is located near the Nizip-Gaziantep motorway.^【6】

The school principal, as the highest-ranking administrator, is responsible for managing staff, students, and parents; implementing educational programs; and monitoring the achievement of school objectives.

Strategic management processes are carried out by the Strategy Development Council, chaired by the principal, and the Strategic Planning Team, led by the deputy principal.^【7】

The school consists of students with high academic achievement. Among graduates, the most preferred university faculties are medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, law, and engineering. According to available data, of the 126 graduates, 56 were admitted to higher education programs in their first year, with 44.44 percent successfully entering their target faculties.^【8】

The school organizes scientific knowledge competitions and literary contests, such as memorized recitation of the Independence March. Social responsibility and personal development initiatives are carried out through student clubs, and participation in physical activities is encouraged within available facilities. Strategic plans include provisions for a dedicated indoor sports hall in future campus development.^【9】

Among the school’s 2024–2028 strategic goals are increasing participation in national and international projects and establishing scientific and cultural collaborations with universities. Activities planned to enhance foreign language proficiency include mobility programs, career guidance panels, and alumni meetings.^【10】
