Love Likes Coincidences (Film)

Love Likes Coincidences is a Turkish romantic drama film released in 2011. The screenplay was written by Nuran Evren Şit and directed by Ömer Faruk Sorak. The film explores the relationship between two characters whose lives intersect through a series of coincidences, spanning from the past to the present. Produced by Böcek Yapım and distributed by UIP Türkiye, the film premiered nationwide in Türkiye on 4 February 2011.

The film narrates how the lives of two characters, Özgür and Deniz, born on the same day in Ankara, become intertwined over the years through a series of coincidences. The story, which begins in 1977, focuses on their childhood encounters and culminates in their actual meeting in Istanbul in 2010. Özgür works as a photographic artist while Deniz is on the verge of launching an acting career. The narrative, which moves between past and present, also presents the relationship between the characters’ personal histories and broader societal transformations.

The film was produced by Böcek Yapım and filmed in Ankara and Istanbul in 2010. To reflect transitions between time periods, a detailed production approach was adopted in set and costume design. The music, composed by Ozan Çolakoğlu, also paid technical attention to period-specific differences across scenes set in different years.
