Limonata (Film)

Limonata is a Turkish-Macedonian co-production drama and road film released in 2015. Directed by Ali Atay, it is his first feature-length directorial work. The screenplay was written jointly by Ali Atay and Ertan Saban.

The film was produced by Adal Film. The cinematography was handled by Ahmet Sesigürgil and the music by the band Gevende. The lead roles are played by Ertan Saban and Serkan Keskin, with supporting performances by Zekir Sipahi, Bedia Begovska, Funda Eryiğit, Luran Ahmedi, Selahattin Bilal and Ciguli. Filming began in Istanbul and was completed in Macedonia.

The film begins when Suat, a former truck driver living in Macedonia, receives a terminal diagnosis and asks his son Sakip to find his other son Selim, whom he abandoned years earlier. Sakip sets out for Istanbul and begins searching for his brother using only his name and an address. The film focuses on the evolving relationship between the two brothers during their journey.

The film explores themes of family, brotherhood, forgiveness and confronting the past. The process by which the two brothers, raised in different geographical and cultural environments, come to know and connect with each other is portrayed with dramatic and humorous elements.
