Lady's Farm (Series)

Hanımın Çiftliği is a Turkish television series adapted from the novel of the same name by Orhan Kemal. The series, which premiered its first episode on 4 September 2009, explores themes of drama and historical context. The production was led by Faruk Turgut, while the directing duties were shared by Adnan Güler and Faruk Teber. The screenplay was written by Ayhan Sonyürek and Zülküf Yücel.

The series is set in 1950s Adana. Gülü (Özgü Namal), a poor village girl working in the cotton mill owned by Muzaffer Bey (Mehmet Aslantuğ), one of Adana’s powerful landowners, falls in love with Kemal (Caner Cindoruk), a mechanic employed at the same mill. However, Gülü’s father, Cemşir (Mehmet Çevik), aims to secure financial gain by marrying his daughter off to a wealthy man.

Muzaffer Bey’s return from a trip to Europe and his chance encounter with Gülü become a turning point in her life. From this moment onward, the series unfolds around Gülü’s fate, class differences, female identity, love, and power dynamics.

The series portrays the struggle of a young woman raised in rural poverty against the roles imposed by society. Gülü’s internal and social transformation as she becomes the lady of the landowner’s estate is presented within a dramatic structure.

Hanımın Çiftliği addresses themes such as class conflict, feudal order, the oppression of women, love, power, and freedom.

Caner Cindoruk won the En İyi Erkek Oyuncu (Dönem Dizisi) award at the 2010 Ayaklı Gazete TV Yıldızları Ödülleri for his performance in the series.
