Kütahya Health Sciences University (KSBÜ)

Kütahya Health Sciences University (KSBÜ) is a public university established under the framework of the Republic of Türkiye Higher Education Law. The institution is structured with a thematic mission focused on health sciences. Its academic and administrative units are located in the city center of Kütahya, within the Inner Western Anatolia region of the Aegean Region. Additionally, academic units affiliated with the university operate in the districts of Gediz, Simav, and Tavşanlı in Kütahya.

Kütahya Health Sciences University acquired legal personality on 18 May 2018 under Law No. 7141. Its establishment process involved the integration of the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Health Sciences, and health services-oriented vocational schools previously operating under Dumlupınar University, Kütahya, into a new institutional structure. This structural reorganization aimed to consolidate health education in Kütahya under a thematic model. Since its founding, the university has renewed its existing academic units and expanded its academic infrastructure by introducing programs that integrate health sciences with engineering disciplines.

Kütahya Health Sciences University conducts its educational and research activities at two main campuses located in the city center of Kütahya: the Evliya Çelebi Campus and the Germiyan Campus.

Evliya Çelebi Campus: Hosts units with intensive clinical activities such as the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Dentistry.

Germiyan Campus: Houses units including the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences.

In addition to these two main campuses, the university has buildings in the districts of Gediz, Simav, and Tavşanlı in Kütahya, where health services vocational schools bearing the names of the respective districts carry out their educational activities.

The university has a total of 6,889 enrolled students.^【1】 The vast majority of students are pursuing undergraduate and associate degree programs in health sciences. There are 51 student organizations active within the university, covering a range of interests.^【2】

Kütahya Health Sciences University conducts its internationalization activities through the Office of International Relations. The university supports student and staff mobility within the framework of the European Union’s Erasmus+ program. In addition to Erasmus+, it engages in international academic collaboration through the Mevlana Exchange Program and bilateral cooperation protocols signed with universities in various countries.

Kütahya Health Sciences University has received various institutional and academic awards as a result of its activities.

Sports-Friendly Campus Award: The university was institutionally recognized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

Youth Cancer Researcher Award: Awarded to KSBÜ academics by the Molecular Cancer Research Association (MOKAD) in recognition of their scientific work.

Accessible University Awards (Orange Flag): Under the 2024 Accessible University Awards organized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), the Kütahya Vocational School building, the Rectorate building, the Faculty of Health Sciences building, and the Gediz Health Services Vocational School building were awarded the Orange Flag for Accessibility in the Physical Environment.

Pınar Institute Scientific Article Competition Award: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Kar from the Faculty of Medicine at KSBÜ received an award in the Scientific Article Competition organized by the Pınar Institute for his study on sustainable health and nutrition.

The KSBÜ campuses provide students with social and sports infrastructure. Sports facilities include artificial turf fields, multi-purpose basketball and volleyball courts, tennis courts, and fitness centers. The campuses also feature bicycle paths and rest areas. Social, cultural, and scientific events are organized by student organizations.
