Küçükçekmece Doğan Cüceloğlu Science High School

Doğan Cüceloğlu Fen Lisesi (DCFL) is a secondary education institution under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye, operating in the Atakent neighborhood of the Küçükçekmece district in Istanbul. The school is located at addresses “Atakent Mahallesi 4. Cadde No: 31/4” and “Atakent Mahallesi Cumhuriyet Caddesi No: 4” and conducts its educational activities in accordance with science-based educational principles.^【1】

The institution’s emblem indicates its founding year as 2020. Throughout its historical development, efforts have been made to enhance physical facilities; among these, the inauguration of the school’s artificial turf field was held on 5 December 2025 with the participation of Emin Çıkrıkçı, the District Director of National Education in Küçükçekmece. Within the framework of institutional traditions, an annual “Badging Ceremony” is organized for students.^【2】

Doğan Cüceloğlu Fen Lisesi is a public school under the hierarchical structure of the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye (MEB). It coordinates its operations with the Küçükçekmece District Directorate of National Education. The institution actively utilizes ministry information systems such as MEBBİS, e-Okul, and the Parent Information System. The school’s core vision is to cultivate individuals who integrate national and spiritual values with universal values to contribute to scientific advancement.^【3】

Education at the institution is conducted on a full-time basis (from 09:00 to 16:00). The curriculum follows the standard science high school program, with English offered as the first foreign language and German as the second foreign language. Educational processes are supported by fiber-optic internet infrastructure under the Fatih Project. Centralized and local written examinations, as well as nationwide common exams, are conducted in accordance with the academic calendar.^【4】

Student admissions are conducted through the High School Transition System (LGS) based on centralized examination scores. The school’s minimum score thresholds over the years are recorded as follows: 436 in 2020, 422 in 2021, 448 in 2022, 471 in 2023, and 464 in 2024. Annual student quotas were set at 272 in 2020 and 180 in both 2021 and 2022.^【5】

The school campus is located 10 kilometers from the Küçükçekmece district center and 30 kilometers from the Istanbul city center. Physical facilities include 32 classrooms, one chemistry laboratory, one biology laboratory, two physics laboratories, one music classroom, one art classroom, and one library (with a collection of 3,073 books). Social areas consist of one conference hall, one multipurpose hall, one sports hall, one artificial turf field, one cafeteria, and two infirmaries. Heating needs are met through a natural gas system. The school also has a dormitory.

Access to the campus is provided by İETT bus lines 141A, 141K, 98T, 89, MR40, and 98AB, with a dedicated stop located in front of the school. Additionally, shuttle services operate to the districts of Avcılar, Beylikdüzü, Esenyurt, Başakşehir, and Küçükçekmece.^【6】

The school’s staff consists of 45 teachers. Administrative procedures and ceremonial activities are represented at the district directorate level. Institutional operations adhere to administrative regulations concerning dress code and security protocols.^【7】

The total number of enrolled students is 602. Students’ academic achievements are reflected in the results of the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS). According to 2025 YKS data, students achieved rankings of 3rd within the top 500, 6th within the top 1,000, 33rd within the top 5,000, 54th within the top 10,000, and 115th within the top 30,000.^【8】

Sports activities include basketball, volleyball, football, badminton, athletics, archery, fitness, and table tennis. Events such as “DCFL Youth Days” and “Sportfest’26” are included in the institution’s activity calendar. Cultural activities include university orientation visits (e.g., Yıldız Technical University) and scientific workshops.^【9】Additionally, the artificial turf field was inaugurated by the Küçükçekmece District Directorate of National Education, with the ceremony conducted by then-District Director of National Education Emin Çıkrıkçı.^【10】

The institution actively participates in scientific projects; it achieved third place nationally in the Physics category of the 53rd TÜBİTAK High School Students Research Projects Competition and first place in the regional stage in both Physics and Psychology categories.

Additionally, the school secured third place nationally in the 17th Salih Zeki Mathematics Research Projects Competition. Within the school, initiatives such as TEKNOFEST (UAV and Unmanned Underwater Vehicle finals), TÜBİTAK (2204-A, 2204-C, 4004), the Istanbul Science Olympiads (İSBO), and intellectual property rights (patent) projects are actively pursued.

At the international level, Erasmus Plus projects are implemented, and the institution holds the title of “eTwinning School 2025–2026”.^【11】
