İlke Özyüksel is a Turkish national athlete who competes in modern pentathlon. Modern pentathlon is an Olympic sport consisting of five distinct disciplines: fencing, swimming, equestrian, shooting, and running. Özyüksel has represented Türkiye in international modern pentathlon competitions and is among the athletes who have competed for her country in the Olympic Games in this discipline.

İlke Özyüksel has pursued her academic career with an interdisciplinary approach in sports science and international relations. She completed her undergraduate studies in the Coaching Education Department of the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Ankara University, while simultaneously graduating from the Department of International Relations at Anadolu University. Building on her academic success during undergraduate education, she successfully completed her master’s degree in the Sports Management program at the Institute of Health Sciences at Gazi University. Combining her academic expertise with her professional identity as an athlete, Özyüksel has specialized in sports management and international sports organizations.

İlke Özyüksel was born in Ankara. Two weeks after birth, she was diagnosed with hemangioma (a vascular tumor), a condition that posed life-threatening risks during her childhood. After completing her treatment, she turned to sports, beginning her athletic career with swimming at the age of six and transitioning to modern pentathlon at age nine.

Sources indicate that İlke Özyüksel’s daily life is largely structured around her athletic activities. Training schedules, competition calendars, and preparation phases form the core determinants of her routine. This structure is closely linked to the multi-disciplinary and demanding nature of modern pentathlon.

İlke Özyüksel began her involvement in modern pentathlon through swimming at an early age, later training in the other disciplines to fully transition into the sport. As one of the athletes representing Türkiye in modern pentathlon, she competed at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, she achieved fifth place in the modern pentathlon events.

In the modern pentathlon competition at Tokyo, which featured 36 athletes, Özyüksel scored a total of 1350 points to finish in fifth place. She has demonstrated strong performances in international events and has participated in major competitions such as the World Championships from a young age.

National athlete İlke Özyüksel Mihrioğlu won the gold medal in the women’s category at the second leg of the Modern Pentathlon World Cup held in Bulgaria.

In the women’s final held in Pazarcık, Bulgaria, Özyüksel Mihrioğlu ranked first among 18 competitors with a total score of 1459 points.

With this result, İlke Özyüksel Mihrioğlu became the first Turkish athlete in the history of Turkish modern pentathlon to win a gold medal in the women’s category of the World Cup.

Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak issued a congratulatory message to the national athlete for her historic achievement.

In his message, Minister Bak stated that this was another significant success for Turkish sports and expressed pride that İlke Özyüksel Mihrioğlu had won Türkiye’s first-ever World Cup gold medal in modern pentathlon. He also congratulated the athlete and thanked all those who contributed to raising the Turkish flag, wishing her continued success.
