Hisse Art Association from Kısa

Based in Istanbul, the association aims to contribute to the theoretical and practical development of cinematic art.

The institutional foundation of the association was laid in 2016 with the "Young Pioneers Short Film Competition", which organized cinema discussions and film screenings under thematic titles such as "The Homeless", "Individualization and Family", "Trust", and "Culture of Living Together". Starting from its fifth year, the initiative adopted the name "Kısa’dan Hisse". With this transition, thematic restrictions were removed, and it evolved into a national platform supporting works in fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental cinema. The organization later formalized its civil society activities under legal status by registering as an association.

Organized with the support of the General Directorate of Cinema under Türkiye’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism and various institutional sponsors, the Kısa’dan Hisse Short Film Festival is the association’s primary annual activity. The festival comprises the following categories based on production processes:

• Competition Groups: Fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental works are evaluated by a professional jury.
• High School Category: A special category designed to encourage high school students receiving or showing interest in cinema education.
• Vefa Section: An annual curated selection honoring a prominent filmmaker who has contributed significantly to Turkish cinema, aiming to preserve and renew collective memory.

Beyond merely providing a screening platform, the association runs continuous educational programs for cinema students and young individuals entering the industry. These programs, conducted under the title "Film Workshops", consist of two phases: theoretical and practical. The curriculum covers screenwriting, directing, editing, and sound design. Participants are also provided opportunities for networking with industry professionals.

In line with its commitment to social inclusivity, the festival employs audio description and sign language interpretation for screenings aimed at audiences with visual and hearing impairments. The organization also develops projects focused on the digital transformation of cinematic art and its integration with new media tools.

To directly support sectoral production, the association provides production grants annually to short film projects as financial incentives.
