Geydim Hırkayı – Conversations of Safer Efendi (Book)

Geydim Hırkayı – Safer Efendi’s Conversations is a work in which the Sufi conversations of Siddik Safer Efendi (Safer Dal), a leading figure of the Cerrahî order, have been transcribed into written form. The book, prepared by Adalet Çakır, was published in 2013 by Dergâh Yayınları. It consists of transcripts of approximately forty conversations delivered by Safer Efendi at the Foundation for the Study and Preservation of Turkish Sufi Music and Folklore.

Sıddık Safer Efendi is one of the sheikhs of the Cerrahî order and is known for his Sufi conversations. Adalet Çakır serves as a faculty member at Kocaeli University and has conducted research in the field of Sufism.

The book explores the fundamental principles of Sufism and the spiritual outlook of the Cerrahî order through these conversations. Topics such as humility, avoidance of arrogance, the nature of worship, self-discipline, and divine love are addressed. Safer Efendi’s talks aim to convey the ethical and spiritual principles central to Sufi education.

Adalet Çakır collected and transcribed Safer Efendi’s conversations, organizing them into book form. The source of these conversations is the series of talks given by Safer Efendi at the Foundation for the Study and Preservation of Turkish Sufi Music and Folklore.
