Fakıllı Cave

Fakıllı Cave is a natural cave located within the boundaries of Akçakoca district in Düzce province, in the Western Black Sea Region of Türkiye. The cave was formed through the action of underground waters and chemical dissolution processes. Due to its natural structure and environmental characteristics, Fakıllı Cave is among the protected natural entities.

Fakıllı Cave is situated near the center of Akçakoca district. The cave contains stalactites, stalagmites and columns formed by dripstone. Its internal structure is characterized by natural humidity levels and temperature balance.

Over time, rainwater dissolved limestone bedrock, expanding voids and forming the cave system. This process played a decisive role in the development of Fakıllı Cave’s natural galleries and dripstone formations.

Fakıllı Cave has been officially registered by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change as a Category B natural cave. This registration aims to preserve the cave’s natural structure and ensure its sustainable use.

Fakıllı Cave is among the natural areas that can be visited under controlled conditions. It is considered part of the natural heritage and is included in cultural and nature-based tourism activities. Visits are conducted in accordance with established rules designed to protect the cave.
