Europe’s Young Diplomats: The European Union Simulation by the Leadership Academy Student Community

Quote

The Leadership Academy Student Community, under the ÜNİDES Program, proudly organized the second edition of the European Union Simulation, following the great success of its inaugural event in previous years.

During this three-day celebration of diplomacy, students representing 27 European Union member states assumed the roles of ministers and parliamentarians to discuss Turkey–EU relations from various perspectives. Set in an authentic international summit atmosphere, the simulation featured both diplomatic negotiations and strategic crisis scenarios.

🔹 Agenda: European Army and Energy Strategies

The simulation focused on two main agenda items:

1️⃣ The European Army Scenario:

Participants engaged in intense negotiations on the idea of establishing a common EU defense force, examining NATO relations, defense budget sharing, and the role of non-EU countries such as Turkey.

2️⃣ Energy and Strategic Cooperation:

Discussions centered around EU–Turkey energy partnerships, regional cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean, and potential joint measures to counter energy crises. In these sessions, students developed practical policy proposals and explored the dynamics of energy diplomacy and geopolitical balance.

🎓 Diplomatic Atmosphere and Participant Profile

With the participation of nearly 100 students, the event also featured academics and UN volunteers who shared valuable insights on effective communication, negotiation strategies, and crisis management in international relations.

Throughout the three-day program, students not only gained theoretical knowledge but also developed hands-on experience in the art of diplomacy.

🌐 Towards New Horizons

By the end of the simulation, participants had strengthened their skills in decision-making, persuasive communication, and collaborative problem-solving.

Building on this success, the Leadership Academy Student Community aims to host new international-level simulations and diplomacy events in the future. Once again, the European Union Simulation proved to be a platform where young voices are heard, ideas converge, and the leaders of tomorrow take shape.

📝 Information Note

This event was held within the framework of ÜNİDES (University-Based Program for Qualified Communication and Values Education), aiming to help students better understand global issues while developing their diplomatic thinking, empathy, and negotiation skills.
