Erkilet Airport

Kayseri Airport is operated by the Directorates General of Civil Aviation (DHMİ), under the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye. The airport, which entered service on 15 November 1998, holds a civil and military status activity. It serves both domestic hat and international flights and is a critical hub for air transport in Kayseri.

The existing runway at Kayseri Airport is 3000 metres long and 45 metres wide, with a concrete surface. The 07/25 runway is classified as CAT-I and is equipped with an ILS (Instrument Landing System). Parallel to the runway is a taxiway 3400 metres long and 22.5 metres wide. This infrastructure enables operations by Class D large aircraft for takeoff and landing opportunity.

The new terminal building began construction in 2020 and was completed and opened to service in February 2024. The completed terminal building features infrastructure designed to meet the growing air traffic and passenger demand in Kayseri modern.

The new terminal building completed in 2024 was expanded to align with Kayseri’s growing tourism and commercial potential. Previously capable of serving 2.35 million passengers, the airport now has a capacity of 6 million passengers following the new terminal together. The infrastructure can accommodate up to 8 million passengers when needed.

Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Municipality Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç stated at the terminal opening that he offered chocolate to the first passengers and emphasized that the terminal will serve the tourism and cultural richness of Cappadocia, Erciyes and Kayseri.

Kayseri Airport is positioned as one of the leading air transport hubs in the Central Anatolia Region Anatolia due to its modernized terminal building, expanded passenger capacity and advanced technical infrastructure. It is progressing toward becoming a significant international connection point due to its proximity to tourist areas such as Cappadocia and Erciyes Ski Resort important.
