Diver Safety System

ROBO ODTÜ is a disciplined team of middle and high school students working in the fields of robotics, coding, artificial intelligence, and engineering design. Operating under the roof of Middle East Technical University Development Foundation School(ODTÜ GVO), and guided by an experienced mentor teacher, the team successfully represents Türkiye in both national and international competitions. ROBO ODTÜ aims to unlock each student’s potential through technology by focusing on scientific thinking, teamwork, and creative problem-solving.

The primary mission of ROBO ODTÜ is to provide students with hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education, to raise them as future scientists and engineers, and to improve technological literacy. In addition to developing socially beneficial projects, the team also strives to empower the representation of girls in STEM fields.

• Achievement: Recognized by FLL judges for "Effective Presentation and Team Spirit."

  • Another team became Champion in LEGO Sumo 1kg Category and received their award from İzmir Governor Dr. Süleyman Elban.

• Represented Türkiye successfully at Robotex International, one of the world’s largest robotics competitions held in Tallinn, Estonia.

• Status: Advanced to the semi-finals; development process is ongoing.

• Status: 10 students who earned awards in the Maestrobot National Finals are preparing for Robotex International 2025 in different categories.
• Target Categories: Water Rally, Line Following, Sumo, Rescue Robotics

• Smart Diver Safety System: An Arduino-based system supported by heart rate and temperature sensors. It issues warnings and activates a lifting mechanism when the diver is at risk of hypothermia, ensuring safe surfacing.
• Autonomous Water Vehicle: A new model developed for the Water Rally category, equipped with GPS and advanced sensor algorithms for autonomous navigation.
• Firefighting Robot: Designed by an all-girls team, this robot detects fire via sensors and performs intervention tasks autonomously.
• LEGO-Based STEM Education: Team members organize in-school workshops, share knowledge, and mentor younger students to promote interest in STEM.

ROBO ODTÜ is not just a competition team—it is an educational platform that aims to raise productive, socially responsible individuals immersed in technology. Through science fairs, Code Week events, and educational presentations, the team inspires its school and community.
