In the Soğuk Çermik region, the rodent known as the tree dormouse lives. Named for its habit of traveling and sleeping in groups of seven, the tree dormouse is a rare species requiring protection.

The region around Soğuk Çermik is rich in onyx marble deposits. Onyx extracted from the Çermik area of Sivas stands out due to its patterns, light transmittance, and durable structure. This stone, also known as "Tiger onyx", is five to six times more expensive than regular marble.

Reserves in the region are sufficient for 100 years of extraction. The reserves extend for 1 kilometer in length, 60 meters in width, and 40 meters in depth. The Sivas region has two or three major onyx veins. Due to the cold climate, onyx extracted from the mine can crack from exposure to low temperatures; therefore, production is carried out according to order.

Onyx from Sivas is exported worldwide, primarily to India, China, and Italy, generating annual exports worth 8 million US dollars. It is used in luxury construction projects, especially in the lobbies of high-end hotels.
