Bıttım Soap

Bıttım sabunu is a natural soap unique to southeastern Anadolu region, particularly produced in Siirt. Made from the wild pistachio (menengiç) fruit, this soap is known for its positive effects on hair and skin health due to its natural oils. Traditionally produced, Bıttım sabunu stands out for its various benefits including preventing hair loss, reducing dandruff, and nourishing the skin.

The production of Bıttım sabunu begins with the careful processing of selected menengiç fruits. Harvested typically in September, the fruits are dried, ground, and kneaded to extract their oil. The obtained oil is mixed with water and natural lye and then boiled. After approximately 12 to 16 hours of boiling, saponification is completed. The semi-liquid soap is poured into molds and left to air-dry for three days before being ready for use.
