Bismil Science High School

Bismil Fen Lisesi is a secondary education institution located in the Bismil district of Diyarbakır province, operating under the authority of the Ministry of National Education of Türkiye. The institution aims to prepare talented students in the field of natural sciences for higher education.^【1】

Bismil Fen Lisesi was officially established on 24 June 2017 with the approval of the Ministry of National Education and began its educational activities that year.

Since its founding, the institution has been operating in the school complex located approximately three kilometers from the center of Bismil district.^【2】

The institution is a public school under the Ministry of National Education of Türkiye. Its institutional operations are structured around commitment to national and spiritual values, principles of rights and justice, and a vision of academic excellence. ADSL internet connections and institutional email systems are actively used as channels for information access and communication.^【3】

The daily class schedule begins at 08:00 and ends at 15:10. As part of the curriculum, English is taught as the first foreign language and German as the second foreign language. The educational approach is based on a model that prioritizes media literacy, use of information technologies, and awareness of foreign language learning, while promoting inquiry-based and free thinking.^【4】

The institution admits students through the centralized examination system. According to data from the 2021–2022 academic year, the minimum admission score was 332.049 and the maximum score was 405.290. Based on the placement results of the relevant period, the institution selected students from the top 18.23 percentile. The total student capacity is limited to 120 students.^【5】

The institution operates from a campus located at Obalı Mevkii No:2, Türkmen Street, Aralık Neighborhood, Bismil District, Diyarbakır Province. The main building is heated by a central heating system. In addition to academic areas, the campus includes facilities suitable for sports and social activities. A school bus service is available for student transportation.^【6】

The administrative and teaching staff of the institution are appointed in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of National Education. Teachers guide students in scientific and technological projects and monitor their academic development in alignment with the institution’s vision.^【7】

The student profile consists of individuals with developed communication and problem-solving skills, a predisposition for teamwork, and a focus on academic achievement. The institution aims to cultivate students who embrace cultural values, use Turkish effectively, and show respect for diverse perspectives.^【8】

Within the institution, sports activities are organized in football and volleyball to support students’ physical development. English language activities are conducted to enhance language skills. In addition, various artistic and literary projects and initiatives are supported in line with the institution’s vision.^【9】

Bismil Fen Lisesi participates in TÜBİTAK projects and Mathematics Olympiads as part of its scientific endeavors. The institution has identified the production of projects utilizing scientific and technological resources as one of its core missions. According to current records, the school has no active international project activities at this time.^【10】
