Battlefield™ 1 (Video Game)

Battlefield 1 is a first-person shooter video game developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts in 2016. Departing from the modern and futuristic settings of previous entries in the series, this title focuses on World War I and is known for its large-scale multiplayer battles, vehicle usage, and destructible environments. The game features both a single-player campaign mode and multiplayer modes supporting up to 64 players. Developed using the Frostbite 3 engine, Battlefield 1 won the Games Critics Awards Best of E3 2016 and gamescom 2016 awards for Best Action Game.

Battlefield 1 offers players two primary gameplay experiences: the single-player Operations mode and multiplayer modes. The Operations mode features an adventurous structure centered on the stories of various characters set across different fronts of World War I. The multiplayer mode hosts large-scale battles supporting up to 64 players. One of the most notable modes among these is Operations, which consists of linked battles spanning multiple maps. In this mode, the attacking side attempts to break through defensive lines and advance, while the defending side aims to halt their progress. Battles take place in diverse geographical settings such as besieged French towns, open terrain in the Italian Alps, and the deserts of Arabia. Dynamic weather conditions and fully destructible environments ensure that each match demands different strategies.

Instead of emulating the trench warfare atmosphere of World War I, the game delivers a fast-paced and action-oriented gameplay style similar to earlier entries in the series. To this end, alongside standard infantry rifles of the era, it includes advanced weapons considered cutting-edge for the time, such as prototype automatic firearms (SMGs), to diversify gameplay. The use of land, air, and sea vehicles is a core element of the series and plays a significant role in Battlefield 1. Players can operate period-specific vehicles such as tanks and biplanes. The game also features massive vehicles capable of altering the course of battle, known as Behemoths. These special vehicles include the Airship, which attacks from above; the Armored Train, which moves rapidly across the map; and the Dreadnought, which delivers naval bombardments.

Battlefield 1 Revolution is a comprehensive package that includes the base game and the Battlefield 1 Premium Pass. The Premium Pass grants access to four thematic expansion packs that add new maps, weapons, game modes, and armies. These expansion packs are titled They Shall Not Pass, In the Name of the Tsar, Turning Tides, and Apocalypse. The Revolution edition also includes three additional bonus packs featuring thematic weapons, vehicles, and emblems inspired by famous historical units and heroes. These packs are the Red Baron Pack, the Arab Lawrence Pack, and the Hellfighter Pack. This edition provides players with access to all major content released since the game’s launch in a single package.
