Aykut Enişte 2 (Film)

Aykut Enişte 2 is a 2021 Turkish comedy film directed by Onur Bilgetay and written by Cem Gelinoğlu, Giray Altınok and Muammer Tali. It is the sequel to the 2019 film Aykut Enişte, continuing the story of the main character Aykut through the lens of family ties and the process of marriage.

The film’s narrative centers around Aykut and Gülşah’s upcoming wedding. As Aykut prepares for marriage, he is confronted with a complex situation as long-buried family secrets and past relationships resurface. The sudden reappearance of his former brother-in-law Talat disrupts the family’s equilibrium. These developments in Aykut’s life clash with his good intentions and traditional nature, pushing events into increasingly uncontrollable territory.

Aykut Enişte 2 humorously examines the extended family structure in Turkish society, the socio-cultural pressures of marriage, and the individual’s position within these frameworks. The film explores themes such as familial roles, loyalty, honesty and personal responsibility, deriving its comedy from the conflicts these themes generate.

The film reached a total audience of 930,822 across Türkiye, generating a gross revenue of ₺22,763,563. This figure demonstrates a notable box office performance despite the film’s release in the post-pandemic period.
