Asarkaya Urban Forest

Asarkaya Urban Forest is an urban forest located within the boundaries of the Ünye district of Orduprovince in Türkiye. It is situated along the Ünye-Fatsa highway approximately 4 to 9 kilometers from the city center. Located at an elevation of 330 to 360 meters above sea level, this forested area has been reforested and developed as a recreational space by the Ünye Forest Management Directorate and Ünye Forest Management Office. The urban forest covers a total area of 38 hectares.

The urban forest hosts various tree species including chestnut, hornbeam, beech and black pine. The area is notable for its diverse plant species and wildlife. The forest provides suitable conditions for birdwatching and nature walkingand serves as a habitat for numerous wildlife species.

Asarkaya Urban Forest is open to the public throughout the year and is developed as a recreational area. Facilities within the site include a restaurant, café, restrooms and a mosque. Visitors are prohibited from bringing their own grills or gas cylinders; however, pre-prepared charcoal grills and samovars are available on-site. Recreational activities include picnicking, sports, nature walking, photography and birdwatching.

Asarkaya Urban Forest is located in the Cevizdere Neighborhood of Ünye district in Ordu province. Access to the forest is possible by private vehicle or public transportation within the city. Visitors can reach the coastal area by red-line dolmuşes and then access the forest via a 3-kilometer pedestrian climb.
