Alpay Nazikioğlu was born on 7 July 1935 in Ankara. He was a successful student from primary school through high school and also played football for Gençlerbirliği and Ankara Demirspor due to his passion for the sport. He received a legal education but found his professional calling in music. During his music career, which began in the 1960s, he authored numerous unforgettable works.

Alpay completed his primary and secondary education in Ankara. His interest in sports during high school led him first to Ankara Demirspor and then to a professional football career. His greatest regret during this period was leaving football behind.

Alpay made his debut in 1964 with the single "Norma Mia," adapting both French chanson and Italian Neapolitan songs into Turkish music. The artist gained prominence with hit songs such as "Fabrika Kızı" and "Eylül'de Gel" and attracted attention with experimental works in romantic folk and rock genres. Moreover, he did not limit himself to music alone but also performed poems by Attilâ İlhan.
