Ahmet Bedevi was born in 1899 in Samarra. During his youth, he served in the military. He was deployed to the front lines during World War I and the Turkish War of Independence. Due to his service in the artillery unit, he became known as “Topçu.” His participation in the War of Independence and his subsequent performance of the Hajj pilgrimage earned him the honorific title “Hacı,” leading the public to also refer to him as “Topçu Hacı.” After the war, Ahmet Bedevi settled in Manisa, where he adopted a simple life closely connected with nature. Living around Spil Dağı and its vicinity, he undertook individual efforts to re-green the natural areas surrounding the city. His frequent presence in nature and intense commitment to reforestation drew the attention of the local community.

Ahmet Bedevi is particularly remembered for his reforestation work in Manisa. He actively worked to restore areas damaged or left barren due to various causes, planting saplings especially on the slopes of Spil Dağı and surrounding hillsides to revive green cover. His reforestation efforts were carried out through personal initiative, motivated by a desire to protect nature and expand green spaces. Over time, these activities came to be regarded as a symbolic movement that contributed to the development of environmental awareness in Manisa.
