
Cervical Incompetence (Insufficientia cervicis), is an obstetric pathology characterized by painless dilation and effacement of the cervix without uterine contractions during the second trimester or early third trimester of pregnancy. This clinical condition leads to prolapse and rupture of the fetal membranes into the vagina, resulting in expulsion of a fetus that has not yet reached viability.
