
The lava columns in Güzelcehisar Village, located 17 kilometers from Bartın city center, are a natural formation estimated to be 80 million years old. These columns rise like a wall from the sea, starting from the western end of the 850-meter sandy beach of the Güzelcehisar coast and extending along the seashore to Mugada. Güzelcehisar Lava Columns is a rare natural wonder that can be seen only in Bartın, Türkiye, and in four other places in the world. It was declared a Natural Monument in 2017.
