
Haldun Taner is one of the original and influential figures in 20th-century Turkish literature and theater. He was born on 16 March 1915 in Istanbul and died in the same city on 7 May 1986. After completing his secondary education at Galatasaray High School, he began studying political science at Heidelberg University in Germany; however, he returned to Türkiye due to tuberculosis and underwent treatment.
